Book review for the book "Peluda" by Melissa Lozada-Oliva
Pub Date 26 Sep 2017

This book of poems embodies the Latina female image by means expressions and feelings. The author's best poem among the rest, "you know how to say Arroz con Pollo but not what you are" is all of us losing our language and explaining where we come from and how we assimilate. A book of poems that takes you to place of awareness.

Turtle Island by Eldon Yellowhorn; Kathy Lowinger

This book was a brief overview about Native American history that should be used in school curriculum as a supplement. This book is different from other books because it goes in some detail or enough to understand the rich history about most of the United States, Central and South American. The facts given were more in a cultural perspective and preservation of ideas.
As a non-fiction book the idea the author gives the reader is about how the Americas came to be starting with vikings going all the way to the rich diversity present day from North to South America. This book is great and many young and adult readers will enjoy it.
